RUG JUNE 2015
I really hope you’ll be able to join us!
Great Northern Ukulele Festival
I had a great time at GNUF this year – so inspiring to hear ukulele acts from all over the world. It was a really well organised and interesting festival. I can’t wait for next year!
A big thank you to everyone who came to support this event – we had a really good time! The festival was packed with loads of different activities and musical acts. We played a great set and it was lovely to be joined by our friends from Sunshine and Smiles as they signed a couple of songs for us. I hope we are invited back again next year! 🙂
Disability Rocks 2015
Hope to see y’all real soon 🙂
We had a great time this weekend – 2 gigs, 1 workshop, 1 sing-a-long and the chance to see Manitoba Hal in concert!
RUG at The School Diner Food Festival – Chapel Allerton
RUG and OUO at St Peter’s Church Fayre
Manitoba Hal in Concert at Korks, Otley
A BIG HUGE thank you to all of you who cam to play at Chapel Allerton School Diner Food Festival and St Peter’s Church Fayre.
Manitoba Hal led an interesting theory based workshop on transposing songs into different keys. It’s the first time i understood the Circle of Fifths!
His performance was captivating – I love his use of loops and the double necked ukulele to add texture and depth to his playing. His new album “Dancing in the Moonlight” is available from his website
See you soon for more strumming fun….!
I finally got round to ordering these photos from our gig on 22nd March 2015. It was such a lovely day!
I hope we get to do many more gigs like this 🙂
Big thank you to photographer Jonathan Turner, The Sunshine and Smiles team and Singing Hands.
If you’d like to order prints of these photos – please contact email@example.com – and state that you are from RUG.

We had a wonderful session last week and it was so great to see everyone after the summer break. Lovely to welcome some new faces too.
Although we didn’t have any sessions over the summer, we did have 3 awesome gigs. 2 at the Oakwood Clock and 1 at Chapel Allerton Arts Festival. A big thank you to all who came to play and those who came to support and cheer us on!

We had a very different type of session last night when Richard from The Woolpack Studios (Otley) came with all the recording gear to set up at the Highwood. It was a great experience and I am sure we have been able to capture how wonderful 30 people playing the ukulele together can sound!
We have worked incredibly hard over this year to improve our ukulele skills so I hope you will agree that the hard work has paid off.
Here are some shots from yesterday
