Happy 2016 everyone!

I have been busy preparing new songs for a new year of ukulele good times! I am really looking forward to out first session back at The New Highwood on Wednesday 13th January from 8pm. I have taken song suggestions from the group as well as adding in a few feel-good classics to get us through the remaining dark nights of winter. Song will be added shortly to the SONG SHEETS page. I hope you can make it to the first session back!

AND WE ALREADY HAVE GIGS COMING IN – be sure to keep checking the GIGS page!

The first one is very short notice – and we are only performing 2 songs (+ a few more while people mingle!)

It is for AGE UK’s 40th Anniversary and I thought it was an excellent opportunity to play to an audience who might not yet know how awesome the ukulele is (and how awesome we are!) – please find the set list and all the details attached.

If you would like to come and won’t be at the session next week please let me know you’re intending on coming.

29th January 2014

Sometimes when I work out songs for us to play – I have an idea that they how they will sound on the ukulele. I do a little recording to check it works then bring the song to the group. But I wasn’t prepared for how AWESOME the new song would sound all together! It was so cool. I think I even jumped up and down a little bit! I can’t wait to spend more time on this over the next couple of weeks.

So here it is!

8th January 2014 – A New Year, New Venue and New Songs!

It was fantastic to have a good old sing and play together in our new surroundings! The New Highwood is a great venue – the room is a great space and the staff so friendly (and I think they liked our songs!!)

Last night we started off with a little sing for Phil Everly

SOMEWHERE ONLY WE KNOW

Have a listen to the Keane version of the song here to get a sense of the dynamics we could introduce to our playing…

then we finished off with a quick look at

BLUE MOON L+C

BLUE MOON TAB

We will continue to work on these songs next week so keep practising those chord changes you may have found difficult. Remember to start slow and simple; 4 down strums on each chord until you feel more confident and let your 1st finger get in position first. This will help you develop your muscle memory.

I will record more demos as soon as I can.

Keep on Strumming!
