Winter 2017-2018

Lovely RUG players!

Wednesday 6th December 2017 will be our last session at Lidgett Park Methodist Church until Wednesday 10th January 2018.

You’re all invited to join us for a drink at our Christmas Party (Wednesday 13th December from 8pm at Sylva Bar, Oakwood Clock), where we will be having a sing and a strum, some snacks and drinks and a good time hanging out together! Friends and family (over 18s) are welcome too! If you haven’t signed up yet then please do tomorrow at the session or let me know if you’d like to come (just so we know how many people to expect for venue capacity etc!)

PAFRAS! Positive Action for Refugees and Asylum Seekers

On 20th December 11am-12pm we will be performing at the PAFRAS Christmas Party – some of you have asked if you can donate food/toiletries/clothing – please see

for a list of items that would be really useful. You can bring items to the session tomorrow, or bring along when we play on the day

Thank you all for being a part of making RUG such a lovely group. 2017 has been a brilliant year… we’ve done some wonderful performances, had some great sessions and learned a whole load of cool songs together. I am very much looking forward to 2018 (our 5th year!) and seeing what fun it will bring πŸ™‚ ALOHA for now, Β Jen πŸ™‚

Moortown Christmas Lights

Please join us Wednesday 15th November 2017 from 6:30pm as we play some festive tunes and RUG classics to celebrate the switching on of the Moortown Christmas Lights!

We’ll be at the corner near Transform opposite the entrance to Marks and Spencer’s… there’ll be mulled wine too!

We’ll have our usual 8pm session at Lidgett Park Methodist Church afterwards – hope to see you there πŸ™‚

Summer News

Wednesday 19th July will be our last session at Lidgett Park Methodist Church Hall until Wednesday 6th September, as we have a break for August.

We’re playing at Oakwood Craft Market on Saturday 29th July so see you at Oakwood Clock 12pm-1pm

Thank you to everyone who has helped make RUG such a wonderful group this term … I am very excited to welcome new players to the group and hear our more established members make improvements in their playing all the time. The gigs we do are always so fantastic and fill me (and I hope you and the audience!) with joy. Here’s to many more ukulele good times together.

Happy strumming and ALOHA for now πŸ™‚

PS – if you have any friends who are interested in playing… here are the details of our beginners and improvers courses starting in September!

Summer Charity Concert

Hello RUG friends!

I hope you will be able to join us for a fantastic evening of music on 7th July! We’ll be at St Edmunds Church on Lidgett Lane, along with some other fantastic ensembles and choirs, from 7:30pm to raise money for St Gemma’s Hospice. You don’t need a ticket but please do donate what you can on the door. Hope to see you there πŸ™‚

Summer Charity Concert 2017 - St Edmunds

May 2017

It’s officially Spring now and RUG are nicely settled in to our new home at Lidgett Park Methodist Church Hall every Wednesday evening. There is plenty of parking – and you can access the room from the car park. We are there from 7:30pm for a coffee and chat – the session starts at 8pm.

We’ve got two lovely gigs coming up this month, which we are busy preparing for!

FRIDAY 12th MAY at School Diner Food Festival, Chapel Allerton Primary School. 6pm

SUNDAY 14th MAY at Headingley St Columba URC, fundraiser for Sue Ryder Wheatfields Hospice from 2:30pm

RUG 14.05.17

We’re really looking forward to performing with Good In Parts Community Choir – we have a big finale planned so I hope you can bring a friend and join us for this special concert.

Hope to see you all very soon πŸ™‚

Due to the closure of The New Highwood – we have had to find a new home!

I have tried to keep things simple by block booking LIDGETT PARK METHODIST HALL April-July this year. We’ll see how this goes… but as I have found out there are not many places in north Leeds that can accommodate us! πŸ™‚

Unfortunately – they are booked out next week! So…

WEDNESDAY 29th MARCH – top floor of THE WOODS BAR – 5 Stainbeck Corner, Chapel Allerton, LS7 3PG – next to the CO-OP.

PLEASE NOTE – nearest parking is on Harrogate Road or Stainbeck Lane. There is no dedicated car park.
It’s a great room but it is up 3 flights of stairs and there are no lifts. There will be a bar open for drinks.

WEDNESDAY 12th APRIL – 26th JULY – Lidgett Park Methodist Church Hall (fire door entrance on main car park)

There’ll be tea and coffee available for a small cost before the session so we can have a chat and a cuppa as we get ready to play together.

Thank you all for your support for RUG – whether you’ve been coming since the kitchen days, or you’ve recently joined us – RUG wouldn’t exist without your enthusiasm and energy for the group. Here’s to a new chapter and many more lovely musical moments together.

See you soon
